Aiko Shimada is a local jazz singer. She has collaborated with musicians such as Jessica Williams, Bill Frisell, and Lonnie Plaxico. Her musical influences include Billie Holiday, Shirley Horn, Monk, Miles, Cassandra Wilson. Her voice is described as warm and ethereal, and her sextet promises an evening of delicately textured, deeply engaging music. Joining her this evening will be pianist Jim Martinez, a Steinway Performing Artist; trombonist Vincent Salvitti; saxophonist Cindy Huang; bassist Mark Collins; and drummer Nick Hanley.
